Subject:  Re: MSVCR70.DLL/Can\'t Locate VFP Support Lib
FoxWeb 2 automatically installs the VFP 6 run-time DLL during setup, because it needs it to run the FoxWeb Control Center.  However, during the same process you are asked which version of FoxWeb you want to install (FoxWeb for VFP 5, 6, 7, or 8).  Typically you would install the corresponding version of VFP on your server.  ALternatively, you can specify that you want FoxWeb to use the VFP run-time DLL, in which case you would need to install the corresponding version of the VFP run-time DLL.  These files can be found on your VFP setup disk.  For details on how to install the VFP run-time DLL please refer to the VFP documentation.

For example, if you installed FoxWeb for VFP 8, then you have two options:
  1. Install VFP 8 on your server and disable the Use run-time DLL option in the FoxWeb Control Center.  The advantage of this option is that all your scripts will be compiled automatically as necessary.  THe disadvantage is that you need to purchase an additional copy of VFP to install on your server.
  2. Install the VFP 8 run-time DLLs on your server and enable the Use run-time DLL option in the FoxWeb Control Center.  The advantage of this option is that you don't need to purchase an additional copy of VFP.  The VFP run-time DLL files can be distributed for free.  The disadvantage is that as of FoxWeb 2 (FoxWeb 3 will change this), you need to compile your scripts manually on another computer that has VFP 8 installed on it and copy the compiled FXP files to your server.

I'm installing the Fox Web server on a Win2000 machine.  When I first installed it and started it, no channels would show up in the status window.  No errors in the fwstart.log file and no errors in the Fox Web control panel.  I tried manually running the fwserver.exe and it gave a message saying msvcr70.dll was not found.  The machine had msvcr71.dll but not 70.

I copied the msvcr71.dll from another machine onto this machine and now I get a message when starting FoxWeb saying "Cannot locate the Microsoft Visual FoxPro Support Library".

Any help would be appreciated.
