Did you ever solve this problem?  Typically Web applications don't receive a return value from the browser (or whatever is on the other side) once they return data to it.  Does PayPal provide any online documentation that describes the process?  If you send us the URL, we may be able to point you in the right direction.

Thank you for your help with the question of constructing a post return page. The simple return appears to work. However, according to PayPal the final validated post returns a single word as a response code. How can I read this response code?
